The identification of hepatitis B virus, human immunodeficiency virus as an occupational hazard in dentistry urged all practicing dentists, dental auxiliaries, and dental laboratories to employ appropriate infection control procedures. The goal of an infection control program is to provide a safe working environment for dental health care personnel and their patients. It is crucial for all dental practitioners to be up to date on current Centres for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention guidelines, equipment, and techniques for proper infection control.
