Abstract

TOPICAL APPLICATION OF MALATYADI TAILA PRECEDED BY JALAUKAVACHARAN IN THE MANAGEMENT OF INDRALUPTA

ABSTRACT

Hair loss in patches (Indralupta), is one of the most common problems in society. No work conducted by using the drug regimen Malatyadi taila application following Jalaukavacharan. Thus the topic chosen. 20 patients of Indralupta as per Inclusion Criteria were included in the study after screening at OPD of hospital of our college. Those were divided by lottery method into two groups- Control and Trial group, each having 10 patients. Patients of Control group were subjected to Jalaukavacharan on Day 1 and Day 15 whereas Trial group patients to Jalaukavacharan with Malatyadi taila external application over the bald patch excluding the day of and one day after Jalaukavacharan. The observations were noted. ANOVA test was used for analysis of efficacy in Control and Trial group whereas unpaired t test for comparison of their effectiveness. Overall 60% hair growth was seen in trial group whereas 30% in control group without any adverse effect. Hence, it is concluded that local application of Malatyadi taila following Jalaukavacharan is an effective and safe remedy in Indralupta.
