Adolescence is the period of the decisive last battle fought before maturity. Adolescence is the period of transition from childhood to adulthood with many physical, physiological & psychological changes. Adolescence often co-occurs with puberty. Rapid growth & development occurs in adolescence period, which consist of not only physical changes, but also changes in emotions, personality, behaviour, thinking & speech as well. Adolescence can be a time of both disorientation & discovery. This transition period can bring up issues of independence & self-identity. Adolescent thinking is on a higher level than that of children. Many of the mental health issues that people confront as adult begin to manifest in adolescence. The causes of ill health in adolescence are mostly psychological rather than biological, So it is very essential to take care of adolescence. The Pitta Dosha, which governs adolescent stage of life, is associated with transformation, heat & metabolism. To make this transition smoother, Ayurveda offers practical advice on how to bring advantage to the characteristics of this period & create healthier & happier teens.
