AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF ALCOHOLIC LIVER: A CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT

Alcohol is most consumable beverages in all around the world. More consumption of alcohol may lead to many diseases. In that’s diseases alcoholic liver disease was common type of disease. Alcohol is directly affected to the liver and disturb the mechanism of liver cell. Due to the these we can get hepatomegaly in initial stage then if alcohol consumption is continuing, load was increased on liver cell get hepatitis then cirrhosis, fibrosis. In heavy alcohol drinking steatosis is first response alcoholic liver disease. The primary treatment of alcoholic liver disease is to stop the alcohol consumption. In modern science have some drug which reduce the symptoms of ALD like diuretics, laxative etc. but they are hepatotoxic and nephrotoxic. In Ayurveda have too much drug to enhance the activity of liver cell. Which reduce the symptoms of Alcoholic liver disease like jaundice, ascites etc. The drugs like opd kutki, punarnava, haritki, guduchi etc. In this case 38 yrs. old male patient was came in like symptoms distended abdomen, yellowish discoloration of eye, urine and stool, generalize weakness, pain in abdomen, etc. And he has known case of chronic alcoholic since 15 yrs. Treatment was given to patient punarnava astak kwath, kutki churna, haritki churna, cap B complex, guduchi swaras, shirodhara for release tension. Get the positive result in few days. Complaints was reduced and serological finding was also reduced.
