HEPATORENAL PROTECTIVE EFFECT OF CURCUMIN IN NORMAL AND INFECTED RATS WITH STAPHYLOCOCUSS AUREUS TREATED WITH AZITHROMYCIN

ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to determine the adverse effects of therapeutic dose of azithromycin 45 mg /kg body weight for 5 days in normal, and infected rats with staphylococcus aureus on liver and kidney functions. Forty five male Wister albino rats were randomly divided into main five groups including Group(1): control(normal saline only 0.2ml). Group (2):rats treated with azithromycin orally(45 mg/kg b.wt) for 5 successive days. Group (3): rats were infected with Staphylococcus aureus. Group (4): rats were infected with Staphylococcus aureus and treated with azithromycin (45 mg/kg b.wt) daily for 5 successive days. Group (5): rats were infected with Staphylococcus aureus and treated with azithromycin orally (45 mg/kg b.wt) plus curcumin (20mg/kg b.wt) daily for 5 successive days.
