ABSTRACT

A simple, specific and accurate reverse phase high performance liquid chromatographic method was developed for the simultaneous determination tinidazole and moxifloxacin in pharmaceutical dosage form. The Inertsil C18 (4.6 x 250mm, 5μ) column is used in isocratic mode, with mobile phase containing phosphate buffer and acetonitrile (80:20 v/v) adjusted to pH 4.5 with dilute ortho phosphoric acid solution. The flow rate was 1.0 ml/ min and effluents were monitored at 240 nm. The retention times of tinidazole and moxifloxacin were found to be 3.305 min and 6.876 min, respectively. The linearity for tinidazole and moxifloxacin were in the range of 7.5-45μg/ml and 10- 60μg/ml respectively. The recoveries of tinidazole and moxifloxacin were found to be 99.25% to 101.27% and 99.18% to 100.42%, respectively. The proposed method was validated and successfully applied for the estimation of tinidazole and moxifloxacin in combined tablet dosage form.

Keywords: tinidazole, moxifloxacin, acetonitrile.
