Abstract

PHARMACOGNOSTIC STANDARDIZATION AND PHYTOCHEMICAL SCREENING OF VITEX NEGUNDO LINN

ABSTRACT

To ensure reproducible quality of herbal drugs, proper authentication of starting material is necessary. Therefore in recent years, there has been an attempt to standardize medicinal plant of therapeutic significance. The establishment of pharmacognostic profile of plant will help in standardization for quality, purity and sample identification. The present study was carried out to investigate macroscopical, microscopical and physicochemical parameters of Vitex negundo Linn. which will be beneficial in its identification. The determination of these characters will help future researchers in phytochemical as well as pharamacological analysis.
