NANOGEL: A VERSATILE NANO-SCOPIC PLATFORM FOR ORAL DRUG DELIVERY

ABSTRACT

Nanogels are swollen nano-sized networks consist of hydrophilic or amphiphilic polymer chains. They are developed as carriers for the transport of drugs, and can be designed to incorporate biologically active molecules through physical cross linking such as formation of salt bonds, hydrogen bonds, hydrophobic interactions, electrostatic interactions or by chemical cross linking through formation of covalent bond. Nanogels can readily incorporate low-molecular-mass drugs, bio-macromolecules & proteins. Recent studies recommend that nanogels have a awfully promising future in medicine application. Nanogels are nano-particles that could be used to deliver active drug compounds in controlled drug delivery applications. This review aims at providing general introduction on oral nanogels, recent synthesis methodology and their novel application.
