ABSTRACT

Mutrashmari –Urolithiasis is a complex physiochemical process which involves sequence of events in the formation of any urinary stone (urolithiasis).Increased incidence of urolithiasis in this industrialized world is associated with improved standards of living and is strongly associated with region of residence. The identification of common risk factors for mutrashmari may results in new approach for treatment and prevention of mutrashmari. In this study, the drug kanakasava and avapeedak sneha are mentioned for the management of mutrashmari. These have vedanashamak (reduce pain and antispasmodic) and ashmari bhedana properties respectively. According to acharya shushruta, kapha dosha is responsible for the formation of mutrashmari. There are four types of mutrashmari vataj, pittaja, kaphaja and sukraja but without kapha dosha, mutrashmari can not be formed. So along with the treatment of other doshas in the management of all types of mutrashmari, treatment of kapha doshas is mandatory. In the present work, we have tried to study the combined action of kanakasava, avapeedak sneha, diet and lifestyle changes with respect to reduce pain disintegration or expulsion of calculi and avoidance of recurrence.

Keywords: Mutrashmari, Avapeedak sneha, urolithiasis, Kanakasava.
