ABSTRACT
Mucoadhesive drug delivery dosage forms have been renders the treatment of more effective and safe, not only for the topical uses but also for systemic problems. And the delivery of drug through mucous membrane of the oral cavity (sublingual & buccal) with the consideration of both systemic drug delivery and local therapy has studied extensively. Mucoadhesive patches of diclofenac sodium has prepared by solvent casting technique, by using some different mucoadhesive nature of polymers such as HPMC and SCMC. The prepared patches have shown the satisfying characteristics such as Thickness, Folding endurance, Drug content, adhesive properties and in-vitro drug release. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy studies shown that there was no incompatible chemical reaction occurs between the drug and polymers. The mechanism of drug release from
all the prepared patches was shown the diffusion controlled drug release and permeation of the drug followed by zero order kinetics and among the three different ratios of drug and polymer containing formulation F1 exhibit the characteristic of best formulation and it is shown the promising drug delivery in buccal cavity and it is used as a better controlled release drug delivery system with improved bioavailability.
Keywords: Mucoadhesive film; Diclofenac sodium; In-vitrorelease.
