Abstract

SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERISATION, ANTIMICROBIAL EVALUATION OF 2-OXO-AZETIDINE DERIVATIVE

ABSTRACT

A new series of N-(3-chloro-2-oxo-4-phenylazetidin-1-yl) isonicotinamide was synthesized by the reaction of schiff base (isonicotinohydrazide and benzaldehyde) with chloroacetyl chloride respectively. The chemical structures of the synthesized compounds were confirmed by means of IR, 1H-NMR. . The synthesized compounds showed no antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.
