DEVELOPMENT OF HPTLC METHOD FOR ELUCIDATION OF SESQUITERPENE LACTONE IN POTENTIAL COLD PLANTS AND QUALITY STANDARDIZATION IN COLDFRTM
P. Ravikumar PhD*
ABSTRACT Sesquiterpene lactones (SQL) are a class of naturally occurring plant terpenoids that are formed from head-total condensation of three isoprene units and subsequent cyclization and oxidative transformation to produce a cis or trans-fused lactone. In moderate amounts it reduces inflammation. Lung damage and inflammation in the large airways results in chronic obstructive lung disease (COLD).The present study was carried out to investigate the elucidation of bioactive secondary metabolites SQL in chronic obstructive lung disease (COLD) plants viz., Acacia, Achyranthus, Adhatoda, Calotropis.
