COMPARATIVE REVIEW OF VARIOUS BRANDS OF PROPRANOLOL TABLETS: PHARMACEUTICAL QUALITY, THERAPEUTIC EFFICACY AND CLINICAL RELEVANCE
Kavita Kushwah, Vishesh Dubey*, Manoj Goyal
ABSTRACT Propranolol is a non-selective beta-adrenergic blocker widely prescribed for hypertension, arrhythmias, migraine prophylaxis, anxiety, and cardiovascular disorders. Different commercial brands of propranolol tablets are available in the pharmaceutical market, and variations in excipients, manufacturing processes, and formulation quality may influence therapeutic outcomes. This review article critically evaluates the pharmaceutical quality, bioavailability, physicochemical properties, and clinical applications of propranolol tablets marketed under different brands. The article also discusses quality control tests such as hardness, friability, dissolution, disintegration, and content uniformity. Comparative evidence from previous studies suggests that while most brands satisfy pharmacopeial standards, differences in dissolution profile and stability may affect patientresponse. The review highlights the importance of post-marketing surveillance, regulatory compliance, and formulation optimization to ensure safety and therapeutic equivalence.[1,5] Keywords: .
