ABSTRACT Needle-free injection (NFI) technology is an advanced drugdelivery system that eliminates the need for traditional needles.Instead, it uses a high-speed jet of liquid or powder to penetratethe skin and deliver medication into intradermal, subcutaneous,or intramuscular tissues. This approach helps overcomechallenges associated with conventional syringes, such as pain, fear of needles, accidental injuries, and risks of infection fromreuse. NFI systems are valuable in many fields, including largescalevaccination, insulin delivery for diabetes, dermatology, and hormone therapy. They are also being explored forbiologics, gene therapies, and other sensitive drugs. Severaldevices, such as Biojector, Vitajet, Intraject, and Madajet, arealready available and have shown positive outcomes in clinicaluse. Different mechanisms spring-powered, gas-propelled,laser-based, and shock-wave systems make these devicesversatile for various medical needs. Their main benefits includereduced pain, improved patient comfort, faster administration, and elimination of needle-related hazards. However, challenges remain, including higherdevice costs, limited drug compatibility, and the need for training. Ongoing research isfocused on improving precision, safety, and affordability. With growing demand for painless and safe alternatives, needle-free systems are expected to play a major role in future healthcare by enhancing patient compliance, supporting mass immunization, and expanding applications across multiple therapeutic areas.
