DESIGN AND SYNTHESIS OF SOME NOVEL ISATIN CONTAINING ANALOGUES ANTI MICROBIAL PROPERTIES

ABSTRACT This study involves the synthesis of two Isatin derivatives, characterized by their melting points (130-150°C) and analyzed using Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) with a chloroform-methanol eluent (3:7 ratio). The solubility of the compounds was assessed in various solvents, with all showing good solubility in methanol, ethanol, DMSO, and DMF. The synthesized compounds were characterized by UV, IR, and 1H NMR spectroscopy. Biological activity screening revealed that both compounds exhibited antibacterial and antifungal properties, with Compound B demonstrating superior activity compared to Compound A.
