NEPHELIUM LAPPACEUM ’S SILVER NANOPARTICLE FACILITAED ANTI AGING AND COLLAGEN BOOSTING TOPICAL FORMULATION AND IT’S EVALUATION

ABSTRACT Skin aging is influenced by both intrinsic and extrinsic factors,re sulting in wrinkles, loss of elasticity, and age spots. UV radiation,smoking, and poor lifestyle choices accelerate this process. Protection,healthy habits, and anti aging products can help combat skin aging.Rambutan Nephelium lappaceum ), a tropical fr uit native to Malaysiaand South Asia, has shown potential for skin rejuvenation. Rambutanpeel extracts possess strong antioxidant properties due to the presenceof ellagic acid, corilagin, geranin, β carotene, and vitamin C, whichalso promote collagen production. These compounds help neutralizefree radicals, protecting the skin from oxidati ve damage and improvingelasticity. In this study, silver nanoparticles were biosynthesized byreducing silver nitrate using Rambutan extract. The objective was todevelop and evaluate a topical anti aging formulation using Nepheliumlappaceum ’s silver nan oparticle extract . The nanoparticles weresubsequently incorporated into the extract and 5 different samples ofvarying extract ratio were prepared and evaluated.Characterization of the nanoparticles wasdone through UV Visible spectroscopy and zeta size r analysis. The antioxidant activity of theethanolic extract and the extract with nanoparticles was compared using a DPPH assay, whichshowed a significantly lower IC50 value for the nanoparticle enriched extract. Theformulation also exhibited antimicrob ial activity against S. aureus . The findings validate thatNephelium lappaceum ’s AgNPs are an effective natural additive for topical anti aging peel off masks providing a novel and sustainable way of skin rejuvenation. Meanwhile peeloffformulations have been increasingly used in the cosmetic field, providing an innovative andefficient means of providing skincare benefits.
