Abstract

EXPLORING ARTEMISIA VULGARIS: A PROMISING ANTI DIABETIC CANDIDATE (MINI REVIEW)

ABSTRACT

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a global health challenge, affecting millionsand leading to severe complications such as cardiovascular diseases,neuropathy, and kidney failure. Despite advancements in syntheticdrugs like metformin and insu lin therapy, side effects and long termefficacy remain concerns. Artemisia vulgaris (mugwort), a widely usedmedicinal herb, has demonstrated potential anti diabetic properties.This review explores the phytochemical profile of A. vulgaris, itsmechanisms of action, preclinical and clinical studies, and its potentialrole as an adjunct or alternative in diabetes management. The findingshighlight the need for rigorous clinical trials to validate its efficacy andsafety.
