FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF HERBAL SOAP SCRUB USING TAMARINDUS INDICA

ABSTRACT

The growing interest in natural skincare products has led to the exploration of plant-based ingredients for cosmetic formulations. Tamarind, which is rich in vitamins and exfoliating properties, was utilized in the development of a novel scrub soap. This study aimed to formulate and evaluate tamarind scrub soap, incorporating tamarind powder as the primary active ingredient. Various soap formulations were prepared by adjusting the concentration of tamarind powder along with other essential ingredients. The physical characteristics, such as pH, texture, and appearance, were assessed, and antimicrobial activity was tested against common skin pathogens. The results demonstrated that tamarind scrub soap exhibited effective exfoliation, a smooth texture, and significant antimicrobial properties. This study concludes that tamarind scrub soap is a promising natural skincare product offering both cosmetic and therapeutic benefits.
