A CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF BABULA (ACACIA ARABICA WILLD.) FROM VARIOUS AYURVEDIC TEXTS

ABSTRACT Background: Acacia arabica Willd., commonly known as Babula, is a prominent medicinal plant that holds significant value in Ayurvedic medicine. In traditional Ayurvedic literature, it has been mentioned for various disease conditions like Asthibhagna, Pakshaghata, Upadamsha, Jwara, Grudhrasi etc. Materials and Methods: The available Samhita and Chikitsagrantha were referred for collecting the data regarding Babula (Acacia arabica Willd.). Observation & Result: Vital information about the indication, formulations, dosage forms and various clinical aspect of Babula (Acacia arabica Willd.) were found. Discussion: 24 Ayurvedic texts were referred and the data obtained was well categorized for the easy interpretation. Conclusion: From this review study, information is gathered regarding formulations, Internal-external application, various dosage forms and Amayika prayoga of Babula (Acacia arabica Willd.) which will help to understand the range of its applicability and its accurate indication according to disease condition.
