OPTIMIZATION OF VINCA ALBA MOUTH DISSOLVING FILM: A NOVEL APPROACH FOR ANTIULCER TREATMENT
Dr. Sunil V. Garad*, Vidya Shivaji Jadhav and Dr. S. S. Patil
ABSTRACT The present study focuses on the formulation and evaluation of a mouth dissolving film using Vinca alba for its antiulcer properties.[1] The drug, Vinca alba, was extracted through maceration to obtain vincristine and vinblastine.[2,3] The films were prepared using hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) via the solvent evaporation method. The resulting films demonstrated uniform thickness, content uniformity, and a surface pH ranging from 6 to 7. Drug content was between 95.88% and 98.99%. The optimized formulation, designated F6, exhibited high folding endurance (113) and superior drug release, indicating good flexibility and sustained release characteristics.[4-6] This study suggests that mouth dissolving films of Vinca alba could enhance bioavailability and provide a rapid onset of action, making it a promising approach for antiulcer treatment.
