THE ROLE OF JALAUKAVACHARAN AND MANJISTHA LEPA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF YUWANPIDIKA W.S.R TO ACNE VULGARIS: A CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT Yuwanpidika is a common disorder affecting a particular age group. It is a disease of the adolescent. It affects both the Sex invariably. It is not limited to any particular class of the society. It correlates to Acne vulgaris. Acne is considered as the prevalent dermatological disorder. But when it becomes chronic & severe it leads to severe scarring of the face. Yuwanpidika is explained as Kshudra roga by Acharya Sushruta. It is characterized by shalmali kantaka sadrusha pidakas on face. Though, Shamana and shodhana chikitsa are mentioned for it by various Acharyas but Acharya Vagbhata states Lepa as the Prathama chikitsa. Manjishta lepa is explained by Yoga Ratnakar as an effective chikitsa. Acne Vulagaris is the chronic inflammation of sebaceous glands. Modern medicine takes a lot of time and may have side effects on prolonged use along with comparatively fewer long-lasting positive outcomes. The younger generation is well aware of the benefits of holistic approach towards beauty and seeks for appropriate guidance for a healthy lifestyle in addition to treatment. In the current study, an adolescent girl with grade 3 acne vulgaris was treated for one month only with ayurvedic oral medication, Jalaukavacharana, Lepa.
