Abstract

ENHANCEMENT OF BIOAVAILABILITY AND EVALUATION OF ANTI INFLAMMATORY DRUG ACECLOFENAC BY SPHERICAL AGGLOMERATION TECHNIQUE

Dr. A. Sambasivarao*, T. Lokesh, G. Thanuja, G. Sai Usha, B. Dileep

ABSTRACT

The objective of the study was to improve aqueous solubility of poorly water soluble drug. Aceclofenac is a BCS class II drug and has low solubility. To enhance solubility Spherical Agglomerates of Aceclofenac were formulated using quasi emulsion solvent diffusion method. Spherical Agglomerates were prepared by using different polymers like PVP K30, PEG 6000, HPMC E5 and HPMC E15. Spherical Agglomerates of Aceclofenac were evaluated for particle size determination, solubility studies, drug content estimation and dissolution studies. Among all the formulations prepared, spherical agglomerates prepared with Aceclofenac and PVP–K30 in 1:1 ratio (Formulation SA3) showed highest drug release in 60 minutes. The objective of the study was to improve aqueous solubility of poorly water soluble drug.
