ROLE OF SHALYA TANTRA IN MANAGEMENT OF VARIOUS SURGICAL DISEASES: A REVIEW

ABSTRACT

Shalya tantra is Surgical procedures mentioned in Ayurvedic classics. Shalya tantra is based on principles of Vata, pitta, kapha and rakta doshas which help cure many pathological conditions. Vrana, Arsha, Parikartika, bhagna, bhagandar etc are diseases which require surgical interventions and can be treated with the principles of Shastra and Anushastra like Kshara karma, dahana and Agnikarma. This reduces the chances of recurrence.
