Abstract

PHARMACEUTICO – ANALYTICAL STUDY OF MADANODAYA RASA – A UNIQUE KUPIPAKWA FORMULATION

ABSTRACT

Ayurveda is not merely a science of diseases and drugs, where it has every aspect of life in its sphere. Rasashastra and Bhaishajyakalpana known as the art of vedic alchemy is a fusion between mineral and organic compounds. Oligospermia,[1] is a challenging condition affecting nearly 75% among age group of 31-40 years Oligospermia may not have direct correlation in Ayurveda but it can be associated with ksheena Shukra or Shukra kshaya. Madanodaya Rasa is a Sagni Kantastha Bahirdhooma Kupipakwa Rasayana.[2] found in Rasayoga Sagara, having Shuddha Parada, Shuddha Gandhaka, as ingredients Rakthothpala dala Swarasa and Bhukushmanda as Bhavana dravya. Physical test shows a Reddish in colour with pH 6.32±0.10.XRD study compared with 2θ angle and JCPDF standards and confirms that Madanodaya Rasa is a compound of Metacinnabar in cubic crystal system, Sulfur in trigonal crystal system. Elements present in Madanodaya Rasa[3] as confirmed by the EDS study is Mercury – 16.22%, Sulfur – 22.8%.
