ABSTRACT
The present study investigates the qualitative and quantitative analysis
of the bioactive constituents of the halophytic succulent plant
Salicornia brachiata belongs to the family Amarantaceae. The Root
and Shoot part of the plant was investigated using five different
organic solvents based on polarity. The extracts were used to study the
twenty different phytochemical tests. The qualitative phytochemical
test revealed the presence of major bioactive compounds alkaloids,
saponin, phenol, flavonoids, tannins, etc., in all extracts of the plant
shoot and root part of the plant Salicornia brachiata. Quantitative
phytochemical estimation was also carried out using the standard
method using root and shoot parts of the plant Salicornia brachiata.
Quantitative estimation revealed that alkaloid, saponin flavonoid
phenol and tannin were present more than other phytochemicals.
