Suswana Mukherjee and Priyanka Ray*

ABSTRACT

The recent study in bacterial biofilms has been found as these are colonies of microorganisms which are attached to each other through bacterial adherence. Biofilms are found to be grown on surfaces by their self-produced extracellular polymeric substances and are known to cause serious infections. Because of biofilms effect in various infectious diseases and spread of various multi drug resistance it has felt necessary to discover out various antibacterial agents that can be used for formation of biofilm and its development. It has become a global health concern. However, several plant extracts are found to be very effective antimicrobial compounds and play a vital role against biofilm of pathogens. Various information gathered paved that natural products extracted from plants have chemo preventive measures and antimicrobial properties that can modulate biofilm formation. Activities were observed against laboratory extracts of S.aureus, S.saprophyticus and E.faecaelis. This review also discusses on some herbs with unknown bioactive ingredients. However, chinese medicinal herbs used expressed antibacterial activity and it could be challenging for fighting against biofilm formation.

Keywords: Antibiofilm, Antibacterial, S.saprophyticus, S.aureus, E.faecaelis.
