ABSTRACT
Surangusa parpam (SP) has been traditionally used in TamilNadu, to treat a number of ailments, including fever, cough, and tuberculosis of the lungs. The current study aimed to evaluate the antihistamine activity of Siddha herbo-mineral formulation SP at the dose level of 15 mg/kg and 35 mg/kg body weight, orally. Changes in peritoneal vascular permeability were studied using Evans blue dye as a detector. The experimental findings demonstrated that the anti-histamine activity of SP at the level of 15 mg/kg and 35 mg/kg showed significant protection that is 32.2%, and 49.3% respectively, due to its
inhibitory effect of vascular permeability. And the standard drug Loratadine 20 mg/kg it was observed that the inhibition of vascular permeability in the peritoneal cavity was a very high level that is 68.4%. The above results contribute towards the validation of the traditional use of Siddha Herbo-mineral formulation SP in the treatment of allergic and inflammatory disorders.
