Dr. Amogh A. Alekal* and Dr. Jairaj P. Basarigidad

ABSTRACT

Ayurveda is the most trending way of prevention and management of diseases in present day, which has solution for almost all health related issues. Even though Acharyas have explained many diseases and their management, Endocrinal disorders are always challenging to the Medical Science. Hypothyroidism is one among them. There may not be direct reference for this in our science but Acharya Charaka has mentioned and explained about Gandamala and Galaganda in his Chikitsa sthana of Charaka samhita. Galaganda is presented with single Granthi in the parshwa bhaga of Gala which is explained by Brihatrayees. Sedentary life style and food habits made that very common problem in the current generation. In Ayurved we have better approach than the western science without harming any other system of human body. So a case of Hypothyroidism is selected, treated and changes are observed. Shodhana followed by Shamana is the best way to manage the systemic disorders. So Sadyo Virechana with Kalyanaka guda and Shamana aushadhas like Tablet Gaytarin, Chandraprabha vati and Varunadi kashaya were administered for the management of Hypothyroidism.

Keywords: Galaganda, Kalyanaka Guda, Chandraprabha vati, Varunadi kashaya.
