Abstract

A REVIEW ON SYNTHESIS AND PHARMACOLOGICAL EVALUATION OF NOVEL BENZIMIDAZOLE DERIVATIVES

ABSTRACT

Benzimidazole is a heterocyclic aromatic organic compound. It is an important pharmacophore and a privileged structure in medicinal chemistry. The compound is bicyclic in nature which consists of the fusion of benzene and imidazole. A large variety of 2 substituted benzimidazoles have been found to possess antiulcer, anthelmintic, anti-inflammatory and HIV-1 reverse transcriptase inhibitor activities.
