ABSTRACT
The present study was to developed and evaluated mouth dissolving film of promethazine hydrochloride which is used as to reduce vomiting motion sickness in case of pediatric and geriatric patient this dosage form will give quick onset of action improve patient compliance and may improve bioavailability the mouth dissolving film formulation consisted of HPMC E15 as a polymer and PEG 400 as a plasticizer by using solvent casting method. The film was evaluated Weight variation (61.08±0.01), thickness (0.04±0.02), folding endurance (194±2.00), drug content (98±0.10) and in -vitro dissolution (96.37±1.21), Ex-vivo study (82.78). The IR spectral showed no interaction between drug and excipients. The stability study of the
optimized formulation for 1 month showed no appreciate change in drug content disintegration test, tensile strength.
Keywords: Mouth dissolving film, Promethazine hydrochloride, Solvent casting method, HPMC E 15 and PEG 400.
