ROLE OF SHIRSHULADI VAJRA RAS IN PAIN MANAGEMENT OF MIGRAINE IN CORRESPONDENCE TO ARDHAVBHEDAK

ABSTRACT

Introduction:- Our Acharyas described 11 types of Sirorogas. Ardhavbhedka is one among them. There is a huge similarity among the symptoms of Ardhavbhedka and Migraine. Its symptoms manifest in the half part of the head. It is a tridoshaja vyadhi. This is one type of vataj shiroshoola manifesting symptoms in vatavaha sira of the head. Ardhavbhedka (Migraine) is now recognized as a chronic illness. Present study is to undertake a literary review on curative aspect of Ardhavbhedka (Migraine) using sirshooladivajra ras. With advent of modern drugs, the pattern of disease has grossly changed, where the drug only assuage the symptoms temporarily and the underlying pathology goes on progressively to worsen the condition. Therefore the ayurvedic formulation sirshooladivajra ras should provide an effective remedy in the treatment of Ardhavbhedkav (Migraine). Methodology:- The ingredients of Sirshooladivajra ras were studied for its pharmacological action from the ayurvedic books, research articles were referred for the critical study. Aim & Objective:- To study the role of Sirshooladivajra Rasa in management of Ardhavbhedka (Migraine). Observation:- Sirshooladivajra ras is a herbo-mineral formulation which contains kajjali, lohbhasm, nishotha, guggule, triphla, kustha, yastimadhu, pippali, sunthi, gokshur, vayavidangaand dashmool. Almost every ingredient are tridosahar and strengthen the nervous tissue, improves the production of RBC, reduces inflammation and improves oxygen saturation which enhance the nerve functioning and helps to reduce the pain. Result:- There can be significant changes in symptoms of Ardhavbhedka (Migraine) by the use of sirshooladivajra ras as described in Ayurved Sara Sangrah. Conclusion:- Ardhavbhedka (Migraine) can be cured or relived by Shirshooladivajra ras. So by further study in future there will be significant improvement in clinical manifestations of Ardhavbhedka (Migraine).
