ABSTRACT

Viruses are microscopic organism that exist almost everywhere on earth. One of the main hazards for both humans and animals. Viruses are made of genetic materials RNA, or DNA, surrounds by a coat of protein, lipid (fat), or glycoprotein. Viruses not only take nutrition from the host cell but also direct its metabolic machinery to synthesize new virus particles so they are the ultimate expression of parasitism. They enter in the living body and redirect body & metabolism to produce large copies of their genomes and proteins. Viral disease are still major threat to public health and remain a major problem all over the world. So the aim of this review article to explore the impressive plant antiviral activity and the current trends in ntiviral drug market. There are a range of a compounds that are obtained from the medicinal plant and have been identify for potent antiviral activity which could be the potential antiviral for future drug development. Some plant like origanum vulgare (oregeno), ocimum basilicum (Basil), Allium satium (Garlic), Geranium sanguineum (Sambucol elderberry), Pterocaulon sphacelatum (Apple bush), and Fungus, Algae, Sponge, marine microorganism etc. that have broad spectrum antiviral activity.
