THERAPEUTIC EFFECTS OF ALOE BARBEDENESIS (AELWA)- A REVIEW

ABSTRACT

Aloe vera, has a long history of use as a topical and oral therapeutic. It is a natural product which is used frequenty in the field of cosmetology and wound healing. Many of the health benefits associated with Aloe vera have been attributed to the polysaccharides contained in the gel of the leaves. These biological activities include promotion of wound healing, antifungal activity, hypoglycemic or antidiabetic effects antiinflammatory, anticancer, immunomodulatory and gastroprotective properties. The main aim of this review is to highlight the effects of the aloe vera. Though there are various indications for its use, controlled trials are needed to determine its real efficacy. The aloe vera plant, its properties, temperament, actions and clinical uses are briefly reviewed in this article.
