ABSTRACT

The present study was carried out in order to find out the effect of Neem oil and mineral oil and with their combination on the antimicrobial activity based on E. coli, S. aurues and B. subtilis. The study was performed on the basis of preparation of the cream and testing the antimicrobial activity of the cream by studying the zone of inhibition. The results obtained were satisfactory The results showed that Neem oil could inhibit the growth of E. coli, S. aurues and B. subtilis According to the inhibition zone, Neem oil. The results from the Disk diffusion method showed the same trend in which neem oil showed the lowest minimum inhibitory concentration against 5 strains bacteria. The other evaluation parameters revealed that the prepared cream was having pH range within the normal range i.e. it was not having irritation chances on the skin. The moisture content, spread ability, viscosity, consistency were in the normal range. The prepared cream was studied for the stability test as per the ICH guidelines for the accelerated study and it was seen that there was no major changes in the formulation even in the thermal testing. So, therefore it was considered to be stable.

Keywords: Antimicrobial, Skin Cream, Neem oil, Azadirachtin, Mineral Oil, Streptomycin.
