TECHNIQUES OF HUMAN DEAD BODY PRESERVATION: A REVIEW

ABSTRACT

The study deals with different old and new techniques used in the art of preservation of dead body. The study will review the techniques used during Chinchorro culture, ancient Egyptian culture (mummification), ancient ayurvedic methods, the process/art of anatomical embalming, the modern method used to arrest decomposition. Natural and artificial ways of preserving the dead shall be mentioned. This will help to review how the definition and purpose of dead body preservation has changed down the centuries.
