ABSTRACT

Introduction: Recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) refers to the consecutive loss of three or more clinically recognized pregnancies prior to the 20th week of gestation. The aim of this study is to determine the level of coagulation screening parameters among Sudanese patients with recurrent pregnancy loss to find the association between the coagulation abnormality and pregnancy loss. Method: Case-control study was conducted in 66 individuals, 26 with recurrent pregnancy loss and 40 as normal healthy subjects, stratified random sampling technique was used to select the participants fulfilling the inclusion criteria from Ibrahim Malik Hospital, at Khartoum state, and the data analysis was performed through the statistical package for social science (SPSS v 23). independent samples T tests were used on numerical data to look at comparing mean of iron profile between case and control All the statistical results were performed under decision rule set at 0.05 with decision to reject the null hypothesis whenever p<0.05. Results: the mean of platelets count was significant lower in cases group p-value (0.000) when compared with control group p-value (0.000) the mean of PT and APTT were significant higher in study group p-value(0.000) when compared with control group p-value (0.000),no significant difference in TCT between case and control p-value(0.542) Conclusion: From this study, we can conclude that, there is association between coagulation screening profile and recurrent pregnancy loss.
