ABSTRACT

Nannari Mathirai is a poly herbal Siddha formulation which is commonly used to treat Hepatic diseases such as Jaundice etc. Many infectious diseases were cured by single herbs as well as poly herbal remedies throughout the history of entire mankind. In the preparation of Nannari Mathirai each drug has the action to treat against Jaundice. This action is due to the presence of various compounds includes glycosides, tannins, alkanes, amides, alkyl halides, nitro compounds, aromatics, aliphatic amines etc., Due to the change in our lifestyle, we are all exposed to many unknown diseases. So many modern medicines have been available to treat hepatic diseases, but it has numerous adverse effects. Thus, the researchers view focussed towards the herbal origin. Thus, this the best decade to explore our Siddha formulations to treat various acute as well as chronic diseases using Siddha formulations such as Herbal, Metals, Minerals, Marine living organisms. Nowadays Standardisation of traditional medicines is much important for establishing the biological activity. Till now there is no evidence of scientific validation of Functional group in Nannari Mathirai, however it has the effective role in hepatic role in clinical practice. Thus, the authors took much more effective role to validate Nannari Mathirai through the scientific medthod FT-IR. The action of hepato protective effect is due to the presence of glycosides, tannins, of alkanes, amide, alkyl halides, nitro compounds, aromatics, aliphatic amines etc. This article dealt with the FTIR analysis, which is the advanced technique used to identify the functional groups, quality and consistency of the prepared medicine which was done at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) test laboratory, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
