ELANEER KUZHAMPU - AN ELIXIR FOR EYE

ABSTRACT

Background: Eye is given prime importance among sense organs just like how Sun is considered as the most important star in the solar system. Due importance should be given to maintain the health of the same by following Dinacharya which has been mentioned with special reference to netra like Anjana etc. Elaneer Kuzhampu[1] is mentioned in Sahasrayoga in the context of Netraroga Chikitsa. Aims and Objectives: To prepare Elaneerkuzhampu as per classical reference mentioned in Sahasrayoga. Methodology: The ingredients mentioned in the classical reference are Darvi, Triphala, Yashtimadhu, Narikelodakam, Karpoora, Saindhava and Madhu. The method of preparation similar to Rasakriya was done as per reference mentioned in Sahasrayoga. Result: 33gms of Elaneerkuzhampu was attained as end product. Conclusion: Elaneerkuzhampu can be effectively used to
curb eye disorders due to increased air pollution, exposure to various irritants in atmosphere and prolonged usage of modern gadgets like laptops, mobile phone etc. It can be followed as a Dinacharya to maintain health of eyes.
