EXPLORATION OF AN UNIQUE FORMULATION “KSHAYASHAMAKA RASA”: A PHARMACEUTICAL - ANALYTICAL STUDY

ABSTRACT

There are innumerable formulations mentioned in the classics of Rasashastra which are yet to be explored and effectively utilized. Kshayashamaka Rasa (KSR) is one such unique formulation mentioned in Rasa Ratna Samuccchaya which is claimed to treat the disease Rajayakshma effectively. According to WHO data (2015), 10.4 million people got infected with active Tuberculosis and 1.8 million died from the disease. In Ayurveda, „Rajayakshma‟ has been described elaborately which can be closely correlated to Tuberculosis. Therefore, this study was intended to prepare Kshayashamaka Rasa as per classical reference and to conduct its Physico-chemical Analysis and Special Instrumental Analysis.
