BIOACTIVE COMPONENTS OF THE LEAVES OF RHODODENDRON ARBOREUM SM. SSP. NILAGIRICUM

ABSTRACT

In this study, the bioactive components of Rhododendron arboreum nilagiricum leaf have been evaluated using GC-MS. The analyses were carried out in a Shimadzu GC-MS QP 5050. A gas chromatograph fitted with a DB5(methyl phenyl sylonane, 60m x 0.25 mm i.d) capillary column and the mass spectra of the compounds of the extract were matched with those of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) library. GC-MS analysis of the ethanolic extract of Rhododendron arboreum revealed the presence of cyclobutanone, 2,2,3,3-tetramethyl (CAS), 1-hexadecanol, geraniol formate (CAS).
