EVALUATION OF INVITRO ANTI-INFLAMMATORY, ANTIMICROBIAL AND ANTIOXIDANT EFFECTS OF TRAPA NATANS (LINN.) LEAVES EXTRACT
Deepak Kumar*, Mohammad Rashid and Abhay Pratap Singh
ABSTRACT Purpose: The purpose of the study is to evaluate invitro antiinflammatory, antimicrobial and antioxidant activity of leaves of Trapa natans (Linn.). Methods: Different extracts were prepared i.e., Pet. ether, Chloroform, Acetone and methanol using soxhlet assembly. All four extract were tested for the presence of phytoconstituents (Alkaloid, Carbohydrate, Steroids, Saponin, Phenolic compounds & tanins, Protein and amino acids) and also evaluate for antiinflammatory, antimicrobial and antioxidant effects. Results: From anti-inflammatory activity, It was observed that at a concentration of 2000 μg/ml of methanol extract showed maximum activity 55.61 % as compared other extracts. From antimicrobial activity, acetone extract showed maximum activity at a concentraction of 200 mg/ml. The concentration of 500 μg/ml of methanol extract showed maximum antioxidant activity 91.75 % in comparision to other extract. Conclusion: Methanol and acetone extracts were richest in presence of phytoconstituents. From the study methanol and acetone extracts showed maximum activity as compared to other extracts. Keywords: Trapa natans, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, Erythrocyte, DPPH. [Download Article] [Download Certifiate] |
