ABSTRACT Garbha Samskara, rooted in ancient Indian traditions, refers to the practices aimed at nurturing the physical, mental and emotional well-being of both the mother and the unborn child during pregnancy. This holistic approach integrates various rituals, dietary guidelines, and psychological conditioning to promote the health and development of the fetus. The concept is deeply interwoven with Ayurveda, Yoga, and Vedanta, advocating for a balanced lifestyle that enhances the spiritual, intellectual, and physical attributes of the child. Garbha Samskara emphasizes the importance of a harmonious environment, proper nutrition and positive thoughts during pregnancy to foster the overall growth of the fetus. The role of the father, family, and community in creating a supportive atmosphere is also crucial in these practices. Modern interpretations of Garbha Samskara suggest that its principles align with contemporary scientific understanding of prenatal care, highlighting the influence of the mother's emotional and physical health on the child's development. The practice underscores the timeless belief that the seeds for a healthy, enlightened individual are sown from the very beginning of life.
