ABSTRACT
Summary: 1. Musculoskeletal problems are common in childhood. Knowledge of the most frequent conditions and their imaging appearances will facilitate early diagnosis andmanagement. Plain radiographs are the mainstay of diagnostic imaging in children, but ultrasound, radionuclide imaging and magnetic resonance imaging all have specif|c roles to play. Whilst the differential diagnosis depends to an extent on age, accidental trauma is the commonest condition at all ages except infancy. This review will briefly describe the imaging strategies of a number of the commonest conditions affecting the musculoskeletal systemin children. 2. The child‘s body is a malleable, dynamic unit of life. In its developmental stages, from fetal to adult, a child‘s health is to be at its optimum level to ensure healthy adult life.
The science of pediatric orthopedics is to correct and prevent deformities in children (Kohler, 2010). With giant leaps since its birth, pediatric orthopedia has become highly adept in areas of trauma, arthroplasty, arthroscopy, limb surgeries and various other fields regarding musculoskeletal health. With children‘s bodies being susceptible to changes in health, medical and scientific research in pediatric musculoskeletal health is being spurred. A short-term treatment may not prove useful or effective in the long run, and with factors like weight, age, coexisting ailments and life quality, it‘s a tough task to come up with advancements. An article about Musculoskeletal (MSK) disease in children, its prevalence, areas of research and opportunities of improvement.
