LITERAL REVIEW OF JALODARARI RASA IN DIFFERENT AYURVEDIC LITRATURES

ABSTRACT

Jalodarari Rasa, A herbo mineral (Plant and Mineral) preparation of Rasa shastra, is used by our acharyas in different types of udara roga. It is mainly used for the jalodara roga (clinically correlated with Ascitis), which is difficult to treat according to different acharyas. It is purgative formulation and by purgation it decreases the water level in udara. Jalodara, A type of udara roga first mentioned in Charak samhita by two names viz. Dakodar in Astaudareeyam adhyaya of Sutra sthana and Jalodara with its Nidan, Samprapti, lakshana, chikitsa nirdesha and its Updrava in Udarchikitsa adhyayam in Chikitsa Sthana. But the yoga
named as Jalodarari rasa was first mentioned by ACHARYA DHUNDHUK NATH in his text RASENDRA CHINTAMANIH to treat the Jalodara.
