CONCEPT OF MEIOSIS IN AYURVEDA

ABSTRACT

Ayurveda is most ancient medical science with its holistic approach serving mankind since the time immemorial. Our species is evolved over many centuries by the continuous process of evolution. Living beings are capable of producing alike progeny due reproduction via reproductive cells. Process of mitosis and meiosis has major role in species evolution, growth and differentiation. There are description regarding cell division and differentiation is given in our classics which can be interpreted precisely. In this study, we will discuss about concept of cell division and concept of meiosis in Ayurveda.
