Abstract

PHARMACOGNOSTICAL STUDY OF PANCHKOLA

ABSTRACT

Now a day, herbal medicine is becoming very popular all over the world due to its less toxicity and minimum side effects. To make person healthy, we should have proper knowledge about guna and karma of medicinal plants, which is described in dravya-guna. Dravya-guna is a branch of Shodashanga Ayurveda. It is the backbone of Ayurveda. To prove the eternity of Ayurveda, it is necessary to research every medicinal plant and aushadha yoga of ayurvedic text with respect to disease on scientific parameter. There should be pharmacognostical study of crude-drugs as panchkola. Panchkola is described in Brihatrayee as well as Laghutrayee and many Nighantu. It is common drug which cures the vata-kaphaj roga like Pratishyaya.
