Abstract

DEVELOPMENT OF SIMULTANEOUS ESTIMATION EQUATION FOR PARACETAMOL AND RIZATRIPTAN BENZOATE AS MUPS DOSAGE FORM

ABSTRACT

Paracetamol is an analgesic (NSAID) and Rizatriptan benzoate is an antimigraine(5HT-Antagonist) drug. Asimple, accurate, precise, reproducible, requiring no prior separation and economical procedures for simultaneousestimation of Paracetamol and Rizatriptan benzoate in MUPScombined dosage form for effective treatment of migraine have been developed. Method employs formation andsolving of simultaneous equation using λmax 243 nm and 224 nm as two analytical wavelengths for both drugs in6.8 pH buffer. Paracetamol and Rizatriptan benzoate at their respective λmax 243 nm and 224 nm showslinearity with obeyed Beer's law in a concentration range of 2-12μg /mL. Recovery studies for Paracetamol100.23 ± 0.594 % and99.65 ± 1.042 for Rizatriptan at 100% level. The recovery results indicated that Paracetamol and Rizatriptan benzoate could be quantified by this procedure simultaneously in combined dosage form without the interference of common excipients. Theproposed method is recommended for routine analysis since it is rapid, simple, accurate and also sensitive and specific.
